I was watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire? the other day. (The lame, daytime one with Meredith Vieira, not the heart-pumping prime time version with Regis.) The question was about a certain holiday that falls on September 19, which unbeknownst to me, is Pirate Day. It said that people were recommended to end their sentences with the phrase "me hearties" in order to honor the holiday. I know we celebrate some crazy, obscure holidays, but some actually serve a purpose. For example, I think Ronald Reagan had good intentions when he established National Ice Cream Day in July, but what term did Captain Ahab serve as president to establish Pirate Day? It's like that character from Dodgeball who thinks he's a pirate. It's not really all that funny, it's just kind of weird.
